Glastonbury Mental Health Network is now hosting regular Mental Health First Aid trainings for Glastonbury-based businesses, community groups and individuals.
Sessions are 3 hours long, including training on signposting – and the price per person is £25. Some of the sessions we run also are also fully-funded, so please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
The Mental Health First Aid training aims to teach skills to enable participants to support themselves and their local community. It has been designed primarily with High Street and central Glastonbury businesses/organisations in mind. We know they are working ‘front-line’ with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties. This training aims to better equip people with the skills, information and resources needed to support those who are struggling.
Mental Health First Aid is the initial support provided to someone experiencing a mental health crisis or problem, similar to traditional first aid. You will learn how to prevent situations from becoming more serious, guide the person to professional help, promote recovery and support yourself in the process.
The trainings will be facilitated by Cheryl Chambers (Somerset NHS Foundation Trust), with support from GMHN.
