The Open Mental Health Alliance is a collaboration between the voluntary sector and the NHS – working together to ensure that local residents get the support they need when they need it.
The partnership will facilitate access to specialist mental health services, housing support, debt, benefits and employment advice, volunteering opportunities, community activities and physical exercise to help support and improve people’s wellbeing and quality of life.
This includes a roaming crisis cafe (available in Glastonbury on Friday evenings), a new mental health NHS team, a mental health hub in Shepton Mallet, new community peer support roles, self management courses and allocation of grant funding towards community projects.
Organisations involved in the project in the Mendip area include NHS Somerset, Mind in Somerset, SWEDA (Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association), Second Step, Rethink Mental Illness, Chard Watch CIC, Citizen’s Advice Mendip, Spark Somerset and Age UK Somerset. Supporting organisations include Heads Up Somerset and Health Connections Mendip.
People can call Mindline to access support from the Open Mental Health service.
However you should call 999 or go to A&E if you have an immediate, life-threatening, emergency requiring mental or physical health assistance.
